A new self-fusing silicone repair tape is designed to provide a watertight seal and conform to any surface, according to manufacturer Rust-Oleum Industrial Brands.

LeakSeal Self-Fusing Silicone Tape creates an air-tight, chemical- and moisture-resistant bond by fusing with itself, instead of sticking to the substrate, the company says.

High-Temp Resistance

The tape can withstand 700 psi and most solvents, acids and oils. According to Rust-Oleum, it is resistant to temperatures ranging from -85°F to 500°F.

LeakSeal Tape bonds to itself, creating a water- and air-tight seal, according to Rust-Oleum.

LeakSeal Tape can be applied to dry substrates by being stretched and overlapped in layers by half an inch. The tape is easy to remove and does not leave a residue, the company says.

"LeakSeal Tape is a very versatile product," said Kelly Markle, Rust-Oleum product manager. "It's perfect for fixing leaky pipes and hoses or for insulating frayed electrical wires. Unlike other tapes on the market, this product goes unmatched in heat, corrosion, insulation and pressure resistance."

The tape is available in 10-foot rolls in black and opaque.
