Tritex NDT has introduced a new version of its thickness multigauge that can store readings in grid and string format directly on the tool.

The Multigauge 5700 Datalogger Metal Thickness Gauge incorporates all the features of the company's Multigauge 5600 and adds the ability to store readings on the tool, according to the UK-based company.

The Multigauge 5700 Datalogger has onboard memory to store readings, as well as all of the features of the 5600 model.

The readings can be transferred to a PC or laptop using wireless technology, which also allows remote gauging. The unit's software includes wizards to guide the user in setting up templates or files for various applications.

Probes, Measurement

The gauge uses the "Multiple Echo" technique to ignore coatings up to 6mm thick and only measures the metal substrate, according to Tritex. No grinding or removal of the coatings is required.

All of the gauge's probes have Intelligent Probe Recognition, which the company says automatically adjust settings in the gauge when connected to match the probe and gauge. The single crystal probes are protected by a membrane so prevent easily being damaged.

The 5700 Datalogger also has the Automatic Measurement Verification System to display only true measurements, even on heavily corroded materials, according to Tritex.

The gauge comes ready-to-use with a three-year warranty and free lifetime calibration.
