Permasense, a global manufacturer of remote pipeline monitoring technology, has opened its first North American office in Houston, TX.

The Houston location is the UK company's first international office. Permasense also has local representatives throughout Asia, Africa, Europe and South America.

40% of Revenue

The North American market currently accounts for 40 percent of the company's revenue, Permasense said.

The company's non-intrusive corrosion and erosion monitoring system uses permanently installed sensors that continually measure the wall thickness of fixed equipment and can detect metal loss.

According to the company, Louisiana and Texas house 35 percent of the country's refineries, which represents significant opportunity for its corrosion and monitoring solutions.

CEO Peter Collins said the Gulf Coast region was the company's fastest-growing market.

President Appointed

Tom Champlin, the newly appointed president of Permasense Americas Inc., said the North American location would allow the company to respond more rapidly to customers in their own time zone.

Champlin joins the company from Nalco Champion and has 20 years of experience in business development, marketing and sales in the downstream oil and gas industry.

He will be responsible for driving new business, developing existing relationships, and building a local team to service the region.

"A key focus for the team will be ensuring that we continue to deliver the high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the purchase, installation and post-installation of our equipment that the industry has come to expect from Permasense," Champlin said.
