TQC has introduced a UV inspection lantern that the company says is capable of detecting contaminations that react under UV illumination but cannot be seen by the naked eye.
Also being distributed by the Paul N. Gardner Company Inc. (Gardco), the companies say that the lantern works well to inspect the cleanliness of steel prior to painting. The product also uses non-destructive testing to detect cracks in metal, organic fats and alkaline contaminants.

The companies say the lantern has a power density of 15000µW at the hotspot and 1500µW/cm2 at 38cm (15 inches). It is equipped with latest high power UV LED 450 mW at 365nm wavelength. It comes with a rechargeable Li-ion battery supply (with recharger) that provides 180 minutes of continuous inspection over a total lifespan of 20,000 hours.
The manufacturer and distributor say the lamp has a sturdy aluminum body, is resistant to corrosion, and comes in a plastic suitcase. It also comes with yellow safety glasses for optimal contrast.
The meter housing features a removable, rubber protective boot for better grip and to help prevent accidental breakage and protects against moisture contamination, shock and humidity, the companies say.
